THE STRUCTUROTHEQUE

INTRODUCTION

The STRUCTUROTHEQUE is a source of documentation on the tectonic structures associated near or fare with fault zones. For this, it brings together :

  • samples
  • digital images
  • thin plates
  • documents (books, specialized articles).

The samplesare stored and archived by categories. Each sample is photographed and inventoried in a list that is enriched as the inputs increase. Each sample is associated by digital link to its image and to various links allowing us to understand its origin, its formation.

The digital imagesof tectonic structures are from documents that have been taken on the field. They make it possible to widen the scale of observation, from the centimeter microstructure to the pluri kilometric structure. Part of this documentation is devoted to observational structures on aerial and satellite imagery.

Theuse of the STRUCTUROTHEQUE can be done by various ways according to the project of the user :

  • for the researcher: it can be a source of reference documentation during scientific work,
  • for the teacher: it can be a source of illustration for cources or lectures,
  • for the student: it can be an additional complement,
  • for the curious autodidact: a source of information and of answers to questions concerning faults and associated structures.
